Blood Tests

 

A blood test is a medical procedure in which a healthcare provider draws blood from a vein, typically in the arm, and sends it to a laboratory for analysis. The blood sample is analysed for a variety of markers, including levels of various hormones, electrolytes, blood cells, and other substances that can provide information about a person's health.

 

Blood tests can be used to help diagnose a wide range of medical conditions, including infections, anemia, diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney disease, liver disease, and cancer. Blood tests can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of treatments for these conditions.

There are many different types of blood tests, and the specific tests ordered will depend on the individual's symptoms, medical history, and the healthcare provider's suspicion of certain conditions. Some common blood tests include complete blood count (CBC), which measures the levels of different types of blood cells, blood chemistry tests, which measure levels of different substances in the blood, and tests to measure specific hormones or markers of certain diseases.

The procedure involves a needle stick and brief discomfort. After the blood is drawn, it is sent to a laboratory for analysis, and the results are typically available within 24-48 hours.

We routinely provide two main profiles named Well-man and Well-woman that incudes up to 54 different biomarkers. These tests are comprehensive and provide a clear insight on current medical status of the patient.

Spirometry

 

Spirometry is a simple and non-invasive test that measures lung function. During a spirometry test, a healthcare provider will ask an individual to take a deep breath and then blow out as hard and fast as they can into a tube that is connected to a spirometer machine. The machine measures the volume of air that is exhaled and the speed at which it is exhaled.

 

Spirometry is commonly used to diagnose and monitor lung conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory disorders. It can also be used to assess the effectiveness of treatments for these conditions.

Spirometry provides several measurements, including forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and the ratio of FEV1 to FVC. These measurements can provide valuable information about lung function, including the presence and severity of obstruction in the airways.

Spirometry is a safe and well-tolerated procedure that typically takes only a few minutes to complete. The test is not painful, although some individuals may feel lightheaded or dizzy after blowing into the spirometer. In some cases, a healthcare provider may recommend a bronchodilator medication to be used prior to the spirometry test to help improve lung function.

Resting ECG (electrocardiogram)

 

A resting electrocardiogram (ECG) is a non-invasive test that is used to measure the electrical activity of the heart. During a resting ECG, small electrodes are attached to the skin on the chest, arms, and legs, and the electrical signals produced by the heart are recorded and displayed on a monitor or printed out on paper.

 

A resting ECG can help to diagnose a variety of heart conditions, such as arrhythmias, heart block, and ischemia. It can also be used to detect the presence of heart disease, such as coronary artery disease, and to monitor the effectiveness of certain heart treatments.

The test is painless and usually takes only a few minutes to complete. Prior to the test, it is important to avoid any activities that can interfere with the accuracy of the results, such as strenuous exercise, caffeine, and smoking.

A resting ECG is a commonly used diagnostic tool, and is often the first test that is performed when evaluating a patient with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, or fainting. Depending on the results of the resting ECG, further testing or treatment may be recommended.

Exercise/Stress ECG (electrocardiogram)

 

An exercise electrocardiogram (ECG), also known as a stress test, is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart during exercise. It is a non-invasive test that is performed to evaluate the heart's response to physical activity and to help diagnose heart conditions, such as coronary artery disease and arrhythmias.

 

During an exercise ECG, the patient typically walks or runs on a treadmill or pedals a stationary bike while electrodes are attached to the skin on their chest, arms, and legs to record the electrical signals produced by the heart. The patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and symptoms are also monitored during the test. The exercise intensity is gradually increased, and the test is stopped when the patient reaches a target heart rate or when symptoms, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, occur. We use mainly Bruce Protocol however we can use other protocols if required.

The results of the exercise ECG are evaluated by a healthcare provider, who can assess the patient's heart function and look for any abnormalities in the heart's electrical activity. 

Abnormal results may indicate the presence of heart disease or other heart conditions, and further testing or treatment may be recommended.

Exercise ECG is a commonly used diagnostic tool and is often performed in conjunction with other tests. We offer this investigation on treadmill and also on bike as a venue appointment but also as mobile appointment (ergonomic bike only) at the customer’s preferred location.  We have successfully completed hundred of mobile assessments in the last 7 years for different providers like insurance companies, private patients and businesses.

The waiting time varies between 10 -14 working days based on demand and availability.

Fitness Test– Chester Step

 

The Chester Step Test is a fitness test that measures an individual's aerobic fitness level, also known as cardiovascular fitness. The test is designed to estimate an individual's maximum oxygen uptake (VO2 max) and is a popular test used in health and fitness settings.

 

During the Chester Step Test, the individual steps up and down on a 30 cm step at a set pace for a specific duration of time. The step height and pace are standardized and vary based on the individual's age and sex. During the test, the individual wears a heart rate monitor to measure their heart rate response to the exercise.

The Chester Step Test is a submaximal test, which means that the individual is not pushed to their maximal effort. Instead, the test is designed to get the individual's heart rate to a steady state that can be used to estimate their VO2 max. After the test is complete, the individual's heart rate response is used to calculate their VO2 max.

The Chester Step Test is a safe and easy-to-administer test that can be used in a variety of settings to assess cardiovascular fitness levels. It is often used by healthcare professionals, fitness trainers, and sports coaches to evaluate an individual's fitness level and to track progress over time.

 

 

This investigation is suitable for customers who are engaged in intense physical activity at their work place and who would require a fitness test on regular basis (usually annual or biennial ) in order to determine their suitability to complete their work tasks  (police officers, firefighters, offshore workers, paramedics and other).

Audiometry

 

Audiometry is a medical test that measures a person's ability to hear sounds of different frequencies and volumes. During an audiometry test, a person wears headphones and listens to a series of tones played at different frequencies and volumes. The person is asked to indicate when they can hear each tone.

 

Audiometry is used to identify hearing loss and to determine the degree and type of hearing loss a person has. The results of the test can help healthcare providers develop a treatment plan.

There are several different types of audiometry tests, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, and impedance audiometry. Pure-tone audiometry is the most common type of audiometry test, and it measures a person's ability to hear pure tones at different frequencies and volumes. Speech audiometry assesses a person's ability to understand speech at different volumes and in different background noise levels.

Impedance audiometry measures how well the eardrum and middle ear are functioning.

The test is painless and non-invasive, although it can be uncomfortable for some people to wear headphones or sit in a soundproof booth for an extended period of time. Results of the test are presented in an audiogram, which is a graph that shows the person's hearing ability at different frequencies and volumes.
